Mountain Room
St. John’s Mountain Room is filled with awesome 4-5 year old learners. This classroom provides children an array of hands-on practice experiences designed to help them gain foundational understanding of the world around them. They are taught important social, physical, emotional and critical thinking skills necessary to cultivate confidence and an enthusiastic outlook about school. They are taught about Jesus and His love for His children through Bible stories and songs. We focus on recognizing letters and their sounds as we begin to write our name. We also strengthen our fine motor skills to hold our pencil as we write and scissors as we cut. Classroom lesson plans are based on our comprehensive and developmentally appropriate curriculum model which is designed to prepare them to successfully move into the next phase of their education.

At the beginning of my schooling, I intended to work with elementary aged children. God had a different plan and, as I worked with younger children and took more Child Development classes, I fell in love with the preschool age. Every child I come across is at a different developmental level and something new to bring to the table. I love watching them learn and master concepts at their own pace and in their own, unique way. The way their little faces light up when they have conquered something they have worked hard at doing or when they have created something new brings me great joy.
